with the main
orchestral repertoire, grants an opportunity for
young composer's original works and arrangements to
be performed and enables young conductors their
first steps in orchestral conducting. The orchestra
also accompanies the school of music's vocal
performing ensembles.
The Carter Symphony
Orchestra has performed at the most prestigious
concert venues in Israel such as: ICC International
Convention Center Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv Museum of
Arts, Israel Conservatory of Music, Noga Auditorium
and others. Clairmont Auditorium at the Tel-Aviv
University is the home venue for its successful
concerts. In the last decade, the orchestra has been
conducted under the baton of Prof. Ami Maayani,
Prof. Noam Sheriff and Mr. Vag Papian. Currently,
the orchestra is part of the orchestral training
programme headed by Mr. Zeev Dorman.
Over recent years,
the orchestra has performed symphonies by Haydn,
Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Bruckner,
Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Prokofiev, “Mathis der
Maler” by Hindemith, the "rites of spring" by
Stravinsky, the Concerto for Orchestra by Bartok
among other works. In 1998, the orchestra took part
in a number of fully staged opera productions such
as “Carmen” by Bizet and “Saul and David” by Carl
Nielsen in its first production outside Scandinavia. |
