Philharmonic
Orchestra at the Mann auditorium under the baton of
Maestro Zubin Mehta. The
Orchestra has also performed abroad where its latest
tours include performances at the "Auditorio
Nacional di Musica" in Madrid and the" Konzerthaus"
in Berlin. Among the
musicians that have collaborated with the orchestra
are: Conductors Zubin Mehta and Christoph von
Dohnanyi, soloists Yo Yo Ma and Maxim Vengerov among
many others.
Within
the framework of the orchestral training program,
the students work closely with the principal players
of the I.P.O., compete with the basic essential
skills of orchestral playing (sectional practice,
preparation of parts, auditions) and participate in
workshops for the different instruments (wind, brass
and percussion workshops).
The head of the
orchestral training program is Mr. Zeev Dorman.
Throughout the academic year, the orchestra is also
conducted by additional conductors as Mendi Rodan,
Vag Papian, amongst others. The framework of the
orchestra consists of several projects. Each project
lasts four weeks. Two rehearsals are held every
week. At the end of the project, the orchestra holds
a series of concerts. Between the projects, the
orchestra goes into recess which enables the
students to be available for other activities and
prepare
their respective orchestral parts for the next
projects. |
