Interferometry
In this experiment you will study photon interference using a Mach-Zehnder and a Michelson interferometer.
Objectives
In this experiment you will use photon interferometry techniques in two setups to preform the following:
- Verify energy conservation in the interferometer setup.
- Measure the wavelength of the laser source.
- Measure the index of refraction or the thickness of a solid sample.
- Quantify the difference in optical paths of the interferometer arms.
- Quantify the intensity modulation of the interferometer.
- Measure the index of refraction of a solution.
