The following table presents validity and violation of three fundamental
effects that take place
in processes dominated by three kinds of interactions.
| STRONG |
EM | WEAK |
PARITY CONSERVATION |
YES | YES | NO |
FLAVOR CONSERVATION |
YES | YES | NO |
PHOTON INTERACTION |
YES | YES | NO |
The data presented in the table suggest
that seeking common foundations for the strong
and the electromagnetic interactions is a
reasonable assignment. An overview of the
general structure of the regular charge-monopole theory is presented in
the accompanying
pages. It is shown that
this theory is consistent with the data of the table and that it
explains other kinds of experimental results,
some of which are unexplained by QCD.
