This page discusses the problem of Lorentz transformation of radiation
fields. The following citation from a well known textbook
indicates that there is indeed a genuine problem with this matter:
"The fact that A0
vanishes in all Lorentz frames shows vividly that
Aμ cannot be a four vector." (see [1], p. 251).
It turns out that this fact is very far from being well known.
As a matter of fact, many textbooks implicitly regard this 4-potential
as a genuine 4-vector. Therefore, this issue deserves a detailed
discussion.
