External perianal hemorrhoids are shown here in the center, with the perineum to the right. Hemorrhoidal veins in the rectal and perianal region can become dilated to produce "hemorrhoids" which are easily irritated and can itch or bleed. They can also thrombose and become acutely painful. Organization following thrombosis may cause resolution to a small skin tag.
