| This enlarged spleen has the appearance and feel of wax. This is amyloidosis of the spleen, which can have either the diffuse "lardaceous" pattern seen here, or the nodular "sago" pattern. This amyloid proved to be of the AL type and the patient had multiple myeloma. |
