The Colton Scholarship
Fund was founded in 1988 by Stewart and Judy Colton of the U.S.
The fund encompasses all the academic disciplines at Tel-Aviv University.
The purpose of the donors is to help young scholars of outstanding academic
merit and potential to advance in their respective fields without the
necessity of looking for additional sources of income.
The Colton Scholarship is granted for three years for doctoral students and
will be in the amount of $21,000 a year, plus an additional $3,000 for
those who have one child or more.
The Colton Scholarship Fund has granted 66 scholarships to date, 44 for
doctoral students, 12 for young scientists and 10 students from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music.
The recipients in 2016 – 2
young scientists, 4 doctoral students, 2 M.A. students from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music.
39 in Sciences and 27 in
Humanities, Arts, Social sciences, Management and Law.
16 former recipients are members of the Tel-Aviv University academic
faculty.
Furthermore the Colton Fund has allocated $10,000 per year to assist former
Colton recipients who are present Tel-Aviv University academic faculty for the
purpose of going abroad for conferences, publishing books, etc.
