Compared
to what.
The question of whether or not I am a creature of habit and slow to adapt, should,
perhaps, be a question of comparision - both toward other people, and various
tools and technologies. I was among the last people I know to start
using a cellular phone, and though I have no way of checking this about other
people, I tend to guess that I'm among the last who still uses a
regular, rather than state-of-the-art, toothbrush. On the other hand, I was
typing with a typewriter when many people around me thought that was a strange
and unnecessary tool.
I seem not to be bitten by the habit of constantly having to get the newest innovations.
Though I'll admit that a catalog of the latest hi-tech tools can easily make me
drool, I've learned to match my technological desires to my pocketbook, and to
my actual needs. My eyes may be glued to the pages of the catalog, but my money
stays in my wallet.
