I've found this rhyme attributed to Oscar Wilde, but as much as I honor and respect his work, I doubt that it's by him. Someone else, apparently McLandburg Wilson, whom I've never heard of, probably wrote it:
Twixt the optimist and the pessimist
The difference is droll:
The optimist sees the doughnut
But the pessimist sees the hole.
