Maybe it's not a mistake.


I admit, the contraction you've is a valid and acceptable contraction. In and of itself, it's not an error. But I'm not familiar with its usage in a phrase such as "if you've to ...". I'd expect to find "if you've got to ..." instead.

That seems to be the case on the web. A Google search found 1,650 pages with "if you've to ...", and 25,800 pages with "if you've got to ...". Again, I didn't check them all, but some of the "if you've to .."s are clearly intended as contractions for "if you have to ...", but some of the others simply don't seem to synch. So it may be correct (or acceptable) usage, but it still just doesn't seem right.
