Experimental Procedures

In the following experiment we will study the properties of monomolecular films using the Langmuir technique with a Langmuir Trough.

We will study the method to determine the surface pressure by the Wilhelmy plate method, and calibrate the trough, and the pressure sensor.

The following experiments will be performed:

1. A study of the effect of the length of the length of the amphiphilic molecule on the isotherm.

2. A study of the effect of adding a counter-ion to the subphase of the monolayer on the isotherm.
