Well-formedness

XML introduces the concept of a well formed document. For a document to be well formed it must obey the following simple rules:-
  1. It must contain at least one element.

  2. It must contain a unique opening and closing tag that contains the whole document, forming what is called the ROOT element.

  3. All the other tags must be nested. IE. there must be an opening and a closing tag and the tags can't overlap.
