| This is the skin of the lower back, with the anal cleft at the far left. Seen over the sacrum is a superficial decubitus ulcer, or "pressure sore". Such ulcerations are most likely to occur in elderly, chronically bedridden patients over bony prominences such as the sacrum. Prevention is the best therapy, with periodic repositioning of the patient and use of soft bedding materials. |
