This is the microscopic appearance of a dermatofibroma at low magnification. Dermatofibromas are benign proliferations of fibroblasts with collagen. They occur singly or as multiple small nodules a few millimeters in size, usually on extremities in adults. There may be some overlying hyperkeratosis and hyperpigmentation, giving them a reddish brown color. |
