This abdominal CT scan taken in "liver window" demonstrates a nodular liver consistent with cirrhosis. As a consequence of portal hypertension, varices form in collateral veins. Esophageal and gastric veins can be involved; collateral veins over the anterior abdominal wall produce a finding known as "caput medusae". There is an abdominal wall scar from previous surgery. |
