About 2/3 of persons diagnosed with myasthenia gravis have thymic hyperplasia, as seen here at low magnification. Ordinarily, the thymus in an adult is mostly adipose tissue with a few clusters of lymphocytes and Hassall's corpuscles. Here the lymphoid tissue is abundant, with lymphoid follicles present.
