Germ cell neoplasms can arise in the midline of the body in a variety of locations. One form of such a neoplasm is a "dermoid cyst" which contains two of the germ cell layers (ectodermal and mesodermal) and is slow growing. The hair and sebaceous material seen here came from a dermoid cyst of the cerebellum.
