Male breast cancers are much less common than female breast cancers, perhaps by a ratio of 1000 to 1. Most occur in elderly males and have spread to contiguous structures by the time they are detected, giving them a high stage at diagnosis. The same diagnostic techniques, such as mammography as seen here showing a dense mass, can be utilized for screening and diagnosis.
