The aim of the course is to provide the students with a wealth of opportunities to learn, practice and improve their spoken Chinese on various occasions. The programme is carried out through active and friendly interaction between the students and the teacher and the students, through which the students can express themselves properly and with confidence.

The class can be instructed as follows: 1. situational dialogues which will allow the students to get familiar with the demand of expressions/vocabulariy needed in daily life; 2. show of part of a programme on DVD/CD about the culture and society, which is followed by a discussion about a given topic; 3. some basic sentences which are grouped in accordance with the specific request of the situation, so that the students are able to present their ideas/feelings freely. All these approaches are intened to serve the main purpose of the course which is to enrich the students’ knowledge and practical skills needed in their oral communication.

Those who are enrolled in this course will be given the topic for discussion beforehand and a group of related words/expressions to the key word used in the discussion/sentence, and will be asked to creat some sentences/ dialogues on the basis of the contents they have learned in class.
