In this course, we will examine the specificities of East Asian, South and Aoutheast Asian languages. We will look at the position of the languages from typological points of view, i.e. to which language family each of the languages belongs, what’s the history of the language and the writing system, etc. We will also study the position and function of English in each language. Pidgin and Creole as language contract phenomena. Basic linguistic Knowledge is preferred, but not required. It is lectured in the first classes of the course. |
