When I created the date link for the September, 1998 column, I certainly didn't expect to have any personal connection to the subject. I couldn't remember when the last time I'd had a flash bulb in my own hands, and I had no expectation of ever having one again. But all that changed when I received a package of books from my mother. Among the other fillers she packed into the box was a box of flashbulbs, and of course I couldn't resist adding a link, and becoming personally involved, in the flashbulb flashbacks.
