(Almost) giving a bit of credit.

Elsewhere I've fully capitulated to the fact that I can't expand this indefinitely to include the entire world. Still, Landow and Lanham deserve at least a bit of attention, if for no other reason than to show that I've encountered them somewhere along the line as well. Ultimately, I've decided not to include quotes from their books in this review. On the whole they place greater emphasis to the theorists of "critical theory" like Barthes, Foucault and Derrida, and I have purposely attempted to avoid this aspect of (or approach to) hypertext in this review. So perhaps this is a case where I can actually limit myself without feeling as though I'm sinning again the promise of hypertext. Landow and Lanham have made important contributions, but quoting them here wouldn't really contribute much to the task at hand.
