Out of sight, out of mind.

Actually, when we built those bookshelves we had many more books than we had room for on the shelves that we were preparing. It was clear, even then, that we weren't going to be able to put all those books on bookshelves and still have room to live in the house. Numerous boxes of books which we still weren't ready to part with, got put in the attic. Once they were there, however, we basically stopped thinking about them as books which we intended to put on shelves, meaning that intead of thinking that we needed more shelf space for our books, we simply related to the books in the house as what there was.
