They come in all shapes and sizes.
As partial payment for some work I did for Britannica a couple of years ago I
received a copy of their CD-ROM Edition. It's a good encyclopedia and I refer
to it rather frequently. When I've had the opportunity to check its content against
that of the print edition I usually find it a bit lacking, but having it instantly
available is definitely a plus. Not too long ago, when the Britannica was still
available online for free, I made frequent use of that edition as well, and was
sorry when access to it was closed to non subscribers (though not sorry enough
to subscribe). Regardless of whether it's the Wikipedia, or
any other encyclopedia, I'm most certainly in favor of having a good resource
available on the web.
