Sadly, it was a bit premature in this particular case.
In November of 1962 Richard Nixon lost his bid for the governship of California
to Edmund G. Brown. Two years earlier Nixon had lost
his bid for the presidency to John F. Kennedy, and when he conceded defeat he
announced that he was withdrawing from politics for good, he uttered
the words which would become ... well, at the very least, classic:
Just think how much you're gonna be missing. You don't have Nixon to kick around anymore.
But though they may have been classic, they weren't exactly true. Six years later
Nixon succeeded in making a phenomenal comeback, winning the presidency in 1968.
I have grave doubts that this same sort of comeback is in the cards for a soon
to be forgotten e-mail distress syndrome. On the other hand, neither will anybody
even remember it was around in order to kick it.
