Are computers really time saving devices?

So far I've concentrated on losses of information, but what about all the time that dealing with these problems consumes? A few hours of worrying aside, I needed a couple of evenings to identify and overcome (or at least "work around") the problem. I may enjoy tinkering with the computer, but I really did have important tasks to attend to that not only would have been more worthwhile, but even more enjoyable.

It's a strange case of saying to yourself "hey, there's a cartoon I can use here", and then rifling through my files searching for it and not finding it, and then saying "but wait a second ... I think I've used it before", and then discovering that yes, I had, and that yes, running a search on the site, even when I only have one word to guess with, is more effective than going through those paper files. Sometimes computer technologies actually prove their worth.
