Actually, it's a very good
idea.
From their inception, these pages have been linked to a
page that promises personal information. But as I've noted in the past,
that page is among the least updated of this entire site. Not only is the
personal information listed there no longer accurate, the links on that
page don't lead anywhere. The sites to which they supposedly link are inactive,
and have been inactive for a long time. I have plans for reactivating those
pages as a sort of historical museum piece on the way we were, but a lot
of reconstructing is called for, and I can't seem to find the time. For
the foreseeable future, those links will continue to lead to a system message
that the pages can't be located.
Recently a friend started reading the Boidem and he enthusiastically
reported to me how much he enjoyed it. He mentioned that he also liked
the idea of the links on my personal information page leading to dead ends.
He thought it expressed something about how this site is constructed, about
how I reveal information as part of, but only as part of, the columns. I had
to think that one through for a while, but when I finally figured
out that he was referring to the Who's That? page, I had to admit that I liked the
idea, and sort of wished that I'd actually intended it.
