It was on this day in 1987 that the first installment of the long-running soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful screened on television. Here I am, seeing myself becoming an anachronism within a very few short years of internet use, and this show has been going on for thirteen, with no end in sight, and I've probably seen it less than twice. If anyone is in need of additional proof that the best way to know which horse to bet on is to bet on the one I didn't, this might be it. I was never particularly enthralled by the possibility of interactive television, but I suppose that a mix of a soap opera with the opportunity to actually touch the glorious lives portrayed in the show is the sort of combination that can't miss. And I'd probably bet against it.
