I enjoy the opportunity to establish fleeting contact with people whom I'm never met and whom I probably never will. I can afford the time these occasional meetings consume, and to tell the truth, I'm often disappointed that the vast majority of the people who establish contact with me don't seem to be able to make the most out of the virtual moment. They are, of course, looking for something different than I am, but they should still be able to get more out of these meetings than it seems that they do.
And some people prefer the distance and the lack of commitment, and perhaps the decreased danger of being hurt:
