But who's snubbing whom?

I suppose that I have no problem feeling guilty letting a correspondence with an old acquaintance whither into silence. I've even got a rather stock response to the first letter of excitement at having been found - I write that I've been through this before, and I know that there's a rather common curve of correspondence, starting with a couple of excited letters, but dwindling down to silence, so please don't feel bad if this happens to us. But that's the case if I'm the one who doesn't want to keep up the correspondence. Would I feel the same way if someone whom I found, and with whom I wanted to maintain contact, responded in that way to me?
