But only partially.
Serendipity, or at least the concept of serendipity, has a way of showing up rather
frequently in these columns. Sometimes it's simply being in the right place at
the right time (if not by accident, then at least not by intent), while at others
it's truly falling upon something unexpected. Though I like the idea of it, I'm
far from convinced that finding the particular magazine that I found can actually
be called a serendipitous find. My plans to write a column about vacationing and
the internet were directly linked to my being in Canada at that precise time,
and any magazine about computing published in July would hold a very good chance
of having a story or two about vacationing. Still, someone else might have seen
a magazine on the street and simply walked on by (or perhaps picked it up and
put it in the trash). I picked it up and read it.
