Perhaps it was the hand of God?
Clay Shirky has dealt with many of the same topics that David Weinberger writes
about in his latest book. I tend to read whatever Shirky writes - at least in
his blog and his articles. And that raises the rather unavoidable question of
why is it, if I really do read what Shirky writes, that only while working on
this column did I stumble upon an
article he wrote a couple of years ago (an article which I'm quite sure I'd
previously seen, but certainly hadn't bookmarked, as I logically would have) that
wonderfully deals with these issues. If I reject arguments of intelligent design,
it would seem that the next most convincing argument would be that the fact that
I was trying to write about similar issues sensitized me to materials that I might
otherwise have passed over.
