Letting it be.
Found poetry comes in numerous shapes and sizes. The Wikipedia
tells us that: Found poetry is the rearrangement of
words or phrases taken randomly from other sources (example: clipped newspaper
headlines, bits of advertising copy, handwritten cards pulled from a hat) in a
manner that gives the rearranged words a completely new meaning.
But there are different degrees of "rearranging". Some people take phrases
from numerous sources and string them together, others rearrange single phrases
in order to achieve a desired effect. I'm basically a minimalist, a purist. The
only rearranging that I allow myself is in the layout of the poem - basically,
converting a snippet of text into something that looks
like a poem. It's not that other approaches aren't legitimate, just that they're
not my style.
