Did we have to back then?
What we're presently witnessing on the web may well be a qualitative leap. We
may truly be entering a stage of transparent interactivity where we're capable
of contributing to the web, of influencing the direction it takes, and the way
that others relate to it, with the same ease with which we take from it. That
may turn out to be the case. But from my perspective, much of what is being called
the new web looks a great deal like what I thought it was supposed to look like
ten years ago.
