Too good not to report.
Sure, I probably bookmarked it, and some sort of trail for finding it still
exists, somewhere. But I'm certainly not going to devote much time to trying to
find it. Still, it was an interesting read.
A number of years ago I read an article by someone who wrote about how a short
story that he'd written had been purchased by a porn film maker, who also invited
him to watch the making of the film. Among other things the author noted that
he didn't recognize his story at all - that it seemed to be no more than a backdrop
for the sex scenes, and that any other backdrop would have served just as well.
What I remember most about the article, however, was the noun fast-forwards.
These, as the author discovered, were the dialogue sections of the film which
at the end of the day were shot as quickly as possible, without concern for how
well they were done, for whether the actors actually said their lines correctly.
After all, the director didn't expect anybody to watch them, but simply to fast-forward
(this time it's a verb) through them.
