It's hard to get to that Alice thing again when, according to the linear flow of this column, you, dear reader, haven't gotten there yet. Perhaps this implies that numerous possible universes exist and that each has its own, different, linearity. On the other hand, I think it's easier to simply conclude that even if for the reader there's a clear, implied linear structure, it's not the same structure that I used when writing it.
