Easier said than done.
Outside of putting up a sign on the site stating something like "this site
is complete", just what would I be expected to do in order to make
it clear that it was finished. And what do I mean by finished? "Finished",
after all, isn't the same as "complete". It could just as well mean
"neglected", "forgotten about", "lost interest in",
"dormant", "on a (very low) back burner", and more. What's
more, it's not clear just why I should care. Any reader who might visit the site
could, without difficulty, write me an e-message asking if I intended to continue
to add material, and, writing from experience, chances are good that nobody will.
It hardly seems particularly important to a reader (who anyway is simply passing
through) that he or she know my future intentions for the site.
