Well, sort of.
To tell the truth, I wasn't actually interested in finding more information that
might convince me that one side or the other was right. What I basically wanted
to find out was what was out there, who was arguing, what sources they quoted
- that sort of thing. A month after Will's article was published, for instance,
the online English language edition of Der Spiegel ran a similar (though considerably
lengthier) article: How
Global Warming Research is Creating a Climate of Fear. Not being familiar
with Der Spiegel I have less of a tendency to compartmentalize it as I might George
Will. That means that I'm more open toward being convinced by its arguments. But
again, I wasn't trying to be convinced. I basically wanted to know what sort of
an argument, if any, was taking place.
