I was definitely pleased, though I admit that I wasn't particularly surprised, that a number of readers didn't heed the moderator's request. Over the next few days a number of different sentences were offered as possible solutions to the original request, and I even learned that what we were looking for was known as a pangram, and that these show up in many languages.
