If I can find the time, I like to play around with HTML. I'm definitely not much of a designer - mostly I find a particular style that I like and try to copy it, and because of that I'm always behind the curve. (Of course Jakob Nielsen wouldn't find anything wrong with that.) My tastes are well established and when it comes to design they tend to be rather conservative, perhaps minimalist is a more fitting word. As this is being written I've learned that Yahoo! has redesigned its front page. I suppose that if that sort of thing happens four or five times over a period of ten years we're not dealing with particularly revolutionary change. But I've changed even less. Other than changes in font size (which are more the result of the tools I've used rather than a design decision) the design of this latest column is essentially the same as the first.
