List of housekeeping genes (download)

This list provided in the link above is based on analysis of next-generation sequencing (RNA-seq) data. At least one variant of these genes is expressed in all tissues uniformly; see the above paper for details. The RefSeq transcript according to which we deemed the gene 'housekeeping' is given.

This list replaces the older list, based on DNA-microarray data. Citation information: E. Eisenberg and E.Y. Levanon, Trends in Genetics 29, (2013).

A list of housekeeping exons is also available: Excel file - housekeeping exons . Note that the same genomic region could appear multiple times, if it belongs to multiple RefSeq transcripts.

Finally, we provide a small selected set of highly uniform and strongly expressed genes that may be used for experimental calibration, e.g. as PCR control genes.
